Welcome to Haven Music Lessons! I’m really happy you’re here and so honored that you’re considering including us in your family’s music education.

Meet the founder

My name is Jacqueline. I live in Cambridge with my husband and our 3 children. We currently live near Danehy Park and spend most of our time at the playgrounds closest to us. In a dream world, we’ll find a cute little house to grow old in on a quiet side street near Porter Square.

I have lots of Cambridge favorites. In no particular order: Momma’s - especially for the ice cream; Stoked - the New York White is my favorite; Magpie & Magpie Kids - the cutest; Porter Square Books, obviously; La Saison - obsessed with the fruit croissants!!!; and Bagelsaurus, of course.

I’m an entrepreneur, with a background (and lots of hands on experience) in child development. I’m also a lifelong music student, having spent most of my childhood studying piano and voice.

By a Cambridge parent, for Cambridge parents.

When I say that Haven is a local business, I really mean it. Haven serves the same community it started in. In fact, if you spend any time at Universal playground, I’ve probably seen you there. My kids attend CPS schools and we’ve eaten more than our fair share of Momma’s soft serve.

My husband and I are raising our 3 kids in Cambridge. We love it. Neither of us grew up here, but we will happily spend the rest of our lives living in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

I started Haven with the goal of providing a simple, stress-free way for Cambridge parents to give their children a high quality, joyful music education. I come from an educational background of business, child development, and music. I coupled that experience with my experience raising children in Cambridge and created what I believe to be the best music education option for busy families in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Being a parent has shaped every aspect of Haven.

Each instructor I hire is someone who I would be thrilled to have in my home, to teach my own children. I want my children to learn from an experienced professional, so all of Haven’s instructors have at least 5 years of teaching experience and have earned or are working towards a graduate degree in the instrument that they teach.

I want my children to learn from someone who can be a role model – someone who is kind, encouraging, and can model resilience and determination. Haven instructors are communicative, punctual, and generally lovely humans to be around. As you might imagine, my hiring process takes a while, but it’s one of the most important things that I do at Haven.
